ABOUT US :
Our organization had its beginnings in 2002 as a handful of volunteers assisting local humane organizations, law enforcement agencies and citizens dealing with animal issues in our bi-state community encompassing Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas

Success in this effort led us to incorporate in 2004 as ARTEX Animal Welfare Association Inc. We became a 501c (3) non-profit organization shortly thereafter.

AAWA membership is comprised of a cross section of our community from corporate business, private business, the medical, veterinary, legal, education, agriculture, law enforcement professions, and the hunting sports.
 
It is hoped that, by our volunteer efforts, the pain and suffering of animals will be eliminated and a better community understanding of the care of all animals will be established.

MISSION STATEMENT
 
ARTEX Animal Welfare Association, Inc. (AAWA) is an organization of volunteers dedicated to the welfare of animals. It is our purpose to accomplish the following:

· Eliminate cruel and inhumane treatment of animals by promoting responsible animal ownership through education, assistance or enforcement.

· Coordinate with government and law enforcement agencies on animal welfare issues and the enforcement of animal cruelty laws when appropriate and necessary.

· Work with veterinarians and other humane animal groups to encourage community education programs that promote the human-animal bond and to provide spay-neuter programs to reduce unwanted pet populations.

· Be prepared to serve in other capacities as the future needs of the community may require.
